Every pen created by us uses the same quality components regardless of it's plating, but as with everything in life some things are better than others and this holds true for plating and their wear resistance.
Each type of plating used to make pens has a ware rating from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.
We only use plaiting's with a 4-5 rating and all of our pens plating's have a lifetime guarantee. We will replace any part or the complete pen that shows wear at our discretion.
Plating's we use
Rhodium - Platinum- The most brilliant and durable. Rhodium sells for as much as $1,500.00 a troy ounce and is used by the worlds premier pen artist. Rated #5 .
Black Titanium - Another of the #5 rated plating's Titanium in black give a dark chrome look that goes so very well with some of the lighter acrylics and woods.
Gold Titanium- This plating also is rated at #5 and has a rich brassy/gold look again giving some woods and acrylics another choice.
Chrome - We all know the look of chrome a nice bright crisp look. Chrome has a rating just below #5 at #4
Plating's we do not use
10K Gold. Very popular this plating blends nickel and gold .An inexpensive plating that in time WILL wear off. Rating #3
24K Gold These have a rating of #2 and wear with=in 3-4 months
Satin and colored plating's Some more with ratings of 2 or less.
Remember when you use a pen your hands are in constant contact with the plating and the acid in your hands will affect the cheaper plating's and we want your pen to be a cherished possession for a lifetime.
